If you love learning and sharing information - and want to volunteer where you can make a
difference - consider becoming a docent at the Royal Oak Historical Museum.
Docents answer questions and share interesting information about the history of Royal Oak
through the objects in our collections. The Museum is looking for people to serve as docents on
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m., and during events, exhibit openings, and
the speaker series.
Museum Curator Johanna Schurrer and Researcher Don Drife will offer two identical training sessions at 3 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. on the following dates:
• Thursday, October 2
• Thursday, October 16
• Thursday, November 6
• Thursday, November 20
Johanna will talk about the history of the Royal Oak Historical Society and the Museum, and
the duties of a docent. Don will provide an overview of the Museum's archival collections and
permanent displays.
Training is free for those wishing to become docents and current museum volunteers.
Please register in advance by emailing curator@royaloakhistoricalsociety.org.
