Judge Keith Leenhouts, a graduate of Royal Oak High School, was a ground-breaking 44th District Court Judge (1959-1969) who developed the innovative “Volunteers in Probation” program that put Royal Oak on the map and was the forerunner of the modern-day problem-solving probation department. His work was recognized by six US presidents, and the 44th District Court Probation Department is named in his honor.
